Sweet D1. One day I’ll toss a lift on mine.

I have two friends with manual D1s. Look harder!

but do they want to part with them?! Also how much worse/better is the d1 over the d2 for staying on the road? My d2 was a headache, but I loved it

Ha, nope. The D1 (from what I understand) is a lot easier to maintain. I daily mine, and do all the work on it. It is VERY easy to take care of, all of the drivetrain is old school 4x4... full float axles. Find one that isn’t rust and has been taken care of, then redo the entire cooling system front to back and you’ll have a trusty steed. If you can’t work on it yourself, it isn’t the vehicle for you. They do need steady attention.

I kept up on a lot of the bs stuff that was wrong with my d2 pretty well. It was fun to tinker on. But I had another vehicle on back up so I wouldn’t be stranded. I had a lot of work done to it in regards to the cooling system. It did me well

You shouldn’t have a problem then. On the forums I see people with small BS issues on D2s that just don’t come up on D1s.. Stuff like traction control/ABS, random OBDII codes, etc. I have a 95 so I am totally in the clear with codes and all that.

A girl at my school has a D2 kitted out just like that one. Big bumpers, whinch, Hellas, mud terrains. Quite the epic truck.
